There's something about being in a luxury saloon car that makes you feel special. It's a different feeling from being in a high-end SUV or even an expensive estate car. It's hard to place what it is that makes you feel so much more cosseted that way, but perhaps it's the cosy feeling that comes from the lower roofline and tighter surrounding compared to either of the above.

Whatever the case, I like that feeling - in fact I've owned two older Lexus LS models just to have that slight sense of opulence (even if I've not got the physical wealth).

So it was welcome news when Genesis kindly offered to send out the 2025 Electrified G80, which will arrive for test near the end of July 2025.

I can already hear the moaning now from a few about it being an electric car. But here's the thing; how can a manufacturer make a luxury car even quieter and even smoother than it already is, when they've added as much sound-deadening as possible, added noise reduction in the cabin via techy stuff using the car's speakers, used different materials, tuned the throttle response, quietened the engine, and whatever other lengths they go to to make their clients enjoy an even more relaxed cabin?

The answer is of course to make it powered by electricity. Barely any moving parts, no engine or exhaust noise, and no vibration from those either.

Not only is the car eye-catchingly handsome, but a quick look at the photos of the interior, and I can already feel myself sinking into those deep leather seats. I just need a driver for the full passenger experience now...
